5 Emo club tracks with vocals - selected by Bambi & Beatrice M.
1. Etari - Chemistry
"Beautiful Ojerime club remix from LA based producer & DJ Etari. Bambi came across this tune on Bandcamp and instantly fell for it - especially the loopy, groovy break rhythm and that long vocal breakdown in the middle that really pulls people together on a dancefloor. The way the vocals drift in and out, sometimes reversed, gives the track this emotional, hypnotic twist. Though we’ve never played it on a b2b together yet, we’ve danced and sung on it together countless times. "
2. Ekaliff - There
"Swedish producer Ekaliff incorporated elements of their own voice and own drumming in this beautifully adventurous track. It’s a quite unique take on dubstep, with the tension building the whole time. The usage of the artists own voice makes it feel somewhat intimate, like a diary entry. It came out on a French label that’s very close to our hearts, De là… je l’espere. Ekaliff also just launched their own label called Feeler Records."
3. Floating Inside - Nutcase And Papachubba
"This aussie late-90s gem takes us back to our Monument b2b last summer. Over time, we’ve discovered that liquid drum & bass was another meeting point for us, which we had a lot of fun exploring in Norway last year towards the last bit of our set. This pick is also a wink to our mutual admiration for the Australian scene and everything that comes out from the 90s. This one particularly, a complete melter."
4. Girl - Carré
"Carré, from LA and now London based, has been tearing down the dubstep scene recently, with multiple releases on Tempa. She’s also been making loads of cool dubstep flips of vocal tracks. Vocal sampling is so pleasant in 140, this specific one samples “Girl” by the Internet, ft. Kaytranada from 2015, and features in a recent mix by livwutang that she just uploaded to her soundcloud, focused on fem vocals in dubstep."
5. Keep It Coming - De Souza feat Marcell Duprey
"Bea came across this track in a big garage mixed comp, it came out in 1999 and has kind of been one of “our” songs since we started b2bing. Early UKG has that girly cheeky energy that makes us want to party and giggle, its playfulness is very federating. The vocals by Marcelle Duprey in this one are so nice."
