As a growing face of French dubstep renewal, SOA420 cuts a physical, street-facing profile shaped by bass pressure as much as by lived cultural memory. Raised within a Franco-Malagasy musical lineage steeped in reggae, R&B and dancehall, her sound carries that inheritance into a contemporary club language where cavernous subs, clipped breakbeats and trap-leaning urgency collide. There’s a distinctly athletic thrust to her selections and productions: direct, percussive, and unafraid to hit hard. The best example might just be her ‘No Nerve EP’ debut release, published late 2024 on Bait, the imprint of her dear friend Beatrice M.

Her work consistently nods to rap’s raw functionalism as much as to dubstep’s darker architectures, threading introspective dub weight through a framework that remains confrontational and restless. Recent releases crystallise a singular voice: hybrid by design, grounded in Afro-descendant aesthetics, and firmly rooted in the margins where bass music mutates fastest.
