Nono Gigsta has the unsettling habit of making everything work. Genres that shouldn’t coexist do, tempos slip without warning, and basslines arrive exactly when your internal compass has already given up. Widely described as the DJs’ favorite DJ, her selections remain stubbornly playful, precise, and allergic to formulas. Her 2024 Freerotation set - later crowned mix of the year and amongst the best mixes of the 25 past years by RA - sums it up neatly: fantasy-grade atmospherics dissolving into dancing mania, freakish jazz and pop samples smuggled in for mischief, and a glitched palette from around the world folded into an unbridled bass logic that refuses to sit still, slipping between half-time drag, D’n’B pressure, acid-licked steppers and dubwise afterglow.

Born in Belgium, raised in Brittany and now based in Berlin, Nono Gigsta has, since 2019, declined air travel in favour of trains, boats and time itself - including a transatlantic sailboat crossing followed by a public-transport-only tour of North America. Offline by design and largely faceless online, she channels her surplus energy into research-heavy radio shows, self-run parties, listening retreats and a quietly devoted newsletter chronicling scenes, books and slow movement. No hype, no shortcuts, no fixed lane - just someone who can, apparently, play everything, and somehow make it sound necessary.
