Marylou is the kind of DJ that nobody quite knows where to file her. Renowned for her unequalled selectas of experimental traditional music, jazz improvisations and leftfield dubs, she hosts an always-incredible residency show on Refugee Worldwide besides relentlessly contributing with numerous mystical guestmixes here and there.

Yet, it would be so reductive to confine the Berlin-based French DJ’s talents to the warm-ups and early-afternoon slots as she also mastered the club-zone, but with a twist. She has made a name for herself by choosing unpredictable free-form audio collages over beat-driven ready-made paths, thus delivering bass-induced high-energy sets soaked with dubstep, footwork and jungle... Sound appears, disappears, mutates; disruption matters more than continuity. What initially reads as eccentric has a habit of flipping rooms when pushed into dancefloor formats, revealing a discreet but stubborn control that has already conquered Terraforma, Freerotation, Atonal, CTM, Meakusma, Berghain, Essaim, Garage Noord…

Maybe the best option would be to enjoy both sides of her practice, and that’s why you’ll find her twice on memòri’s lineup: first to open the festival on Thursday, but also to smash the soundsystem stage on Sunday!
